Siding and roofing replacements serve to protect your most expensive investment: your home. However, like your home, these projects can get expensive.
So how do we, a siding and roofing contractor, help our customers save money? There are five main ways to help stretch your dollar when it comes to your new siding project or roofing replacement:
- Researching available reimbursements,
- Financing your project,
- Identifying potential insurance coverage,
- Balancing affordability with the durability of your materials,
- And finally, choosing a good contractor straight from the start.
In this post we’ll cover each of these options and how they could apply to your siding project or roof replacement, and where to look from them.
By the time you’re done, you should be able to analyze what your siding and roofing project will qualify for and how to bring down your overall cost.
Let’s jump right in.
#1 Choosing a Good Contractor Straight from the Start
By doing the proper research on choosing a proper contractor from the get-go, you save yourself the hassle of paying for your project twice, contracts with hidden fees, and contractors who add necessary costs later (and charge you double).
When you hire a contractor that doesn’t do a proper install the first time—maybe they forgot a crucial part or installed it poorly and materials are falling off—the cost of repairing the mistakes made by the first contractor is what they refer to.
Contracts with hidden fees can also result in a pricier, less effective project. Similarly, sleazy contractors will intentionally exclude certain required materials to intentionally add them in again at a markup further down the line.
A good contractor will have a clear contract that lays out all the necessary costs and potential add-ons at the start of a project. Comparing a variety of bids will help identify what elements are necessary to your project, and help you make an informed decision in the end.
#2 Balance Affordability with the Durability of Your Materials
There are materials on the market that are both durable AND affordable, and a contractor’s job is to help you understand where the balance lies for you.
Here at Pacific Exteriors, we offer three pricing plans—Good, Better, and Best. Each plan allows you to customize which high-quality accessories and additions you add to your home.

James Hardie |
We put Cemplank in the “good” category because Cemplank is the generic form of James Hardie. It’s a solid product at a lower price compared to James Hardie. Because it’s the generic form, Cemplank doesn’t offer the same quality warranties that James Hardie does.
#3 Insurance Can Reduce Immediate Cost
Insurance is last on the list because it is the most variable—the project being covered depends on the reason you need to get a roof or siding replacement.
If your siding needs to be replaced because it’s old, insurance will not cover that as it falls under homeowner required maintenance. However, if your home was damaged because of a break-in, then insurance would likely cover that, as it falls under dwelling insurance.
Identifying the reasons you need a siding or roofing replacement in the moment will be helpful when it comes to reimbursement and reducing the financial burden of your new siding or roofing project.
#4 Financing Your Project
Depending on the contractor you choose, you may have multiple options when it comes to financing your home improvement project out.
At Pacific Exteriors, we offer financing options through Greensky or EnerBank USA, both reputable home improvement loaners that have affordable financing options available. Below is a table of our plan options as of November 2025 (all plans are subject to change).

GreenSky Financing |
EnerBank USA |
|
12-year loan with 9.99% interest |
All contractors have different payment options available, but if you have the cash for it, Greensky’s 12-month 0% interest is one of our most popular plans.
In the end, financing doesn’t necessarily mean a lower cost overall.
But it does reduce the immediate financial weight a siding or roofing replacement can bring to your wallet by spreading your payments out across a longer period of time, leaving more for savings and any emergencies that come up.
#5 Research Available Reimbursements
To reduce energy usage, many states offer rebate programs for improving the energy efficiency of your home. The application processes for each state vary, but
Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates
If you live in Georgia and make below 80% of your area median income, you may be qualified for <98% incentive rebate.
Use this helpful calculator to identify whether or not your home renovation project would fall under the umbrella of rebate eligibility.
For more information on the program overall and the requirements to qualify for financial support, the Participant Eligibility page is incredibly helpful.
Oregon’s Home Energy Rebates
For homeowners in Oregon, there are a wide variety of rebate programs available, and the calculator available on Incentives.Oregon.Gov will help you find what programs you may qualify for.
For more information on upcoming programs available to Oregon homeowners, the Home Energy Rebate Programs page on the Oregon.Gov website is informative and has a ton of information.
Washington State’s Weatherization Rebates
Washington State does not have a calculator available to help homeowners determine if they are qualified for weatherization assistance, but a more steadfast rule:
“Weatherization is available to Washington state homeowners and renters who make up to 200% of the federal poverty level (200% FPL), 60% of the state median income (60% SMI), or 80% of the area median income (80% AMI).” (commerice.wa.gov)
Additionally, the City of Seattle offers another program for residents through HomeWise. If you are a homeowner or renter in the City of Seattle fall under the income bracket, your entire insulative siding project could be compensated.
However, it may be harder to get a siding project qualified if the free consultation HomeWise provides determines a better suited way to insulate your home and make it more energy efficient.
