Challenge

One of our favorite projects to work on is historic homes throughout the Seattle area, including our customer's charming 1928 craftsman home. The biggest challenge when tackling one of these projects is making sure that the previous material is removed properly and new siding is installed while still maintaining the character of the structure. This home in Seattle was in need of a complete siding replacement, in addition to repair to the gutters and soffits to keep their home protected. However, it was important to keep the charm of the home for the finished product, so every design choice made was a crucial one.

Solution

Our crew was able to remove all of the previous siding material and install James Hardie Aspyre Lap siding to the entire home, that we also finished off with a coat of finish paint in a beautiful green and shade. To keep the charming craftsman style of the home, our customers opted to install mitered corners throughout the property. This type of aesthetic option is when boards on the corners of the home are installed at a 45 degree angle, fitting perfectly together. This process gives clean, crisp lines to the corners of the home, eliminating the bulkiness of corner boards. To help protect the home from future weather damage, we also installed DC14 insulated drain boards, James Hardie Soffits and seamless gutters to the entire exterior. The finished product was a beautiful and preserved home that our customers will get to enjoy for years to come.
